David Isenberg, Ph.D. Licensed Psychologist

About My Practice

I am a clinical psychologist in private practice for 30 years. I have advanced training in self psychology, cognitive behavior therapy, mind-body distress release therapies, family therapy, and child play therapy. Self psychology, cognitive therapy, and mind-body psychology focus on changing self-identity beliefs that interfere with feeling good self-esteem and feeling harmony within oneself and within relationships. I try to understand each patient from within their unique perspective and work together to bring about helpful change. For patients wanting to discuss spirituality I have an interest in helping to develop spiritual views that promote emotional health.

We can all develop conscious or unconscious beliefs that create distress. I help my patients identify what beliefs are linked to their distress problems. We then focus on modifying problem beliefs and neutralizing conditioned distress responses. Free of negative energy and negative beliefs, patients experience increased calmness and happiness.

I am trained in a newer treatment called energy psychology. This treatment involves guiding patients to focus on a distress experience or negative belief and to use acupressure points shown to neutralize distress. Patients who use this treatment along with other therapies I offer generally report significant help.
